ECA Stars win State Girls Hockey Championship

MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) - Ava Kison scored two goal and Abigail Stow recorded he fifth goal of the state tournament as the ECA Stars defeated the Cap City Cougars 3-1 to win the WIAA Girls Hockey Championship.

The Stars would take the lead in the first period when Ava Kison scored her first goal of the game. Cap City came right back with a Zephryn Jager short-handed goal to tie the game at 1-1 after one period.

In the second period the Stars had an apparent Abigail Stow goal waved off on an inadvertent whistle from the officials.

Stow would not stay silent in the third as she recorded her final goal of her high school career to give the Stars the 2-1 lead.

Junior Ava Kison sealed the game for ECA with her second goal and the Stars held on to win 3-1.

This was their first ever trip to the state tournament and it ends with their first ever WIAA State Girls Hockey title.
