Eau Claire Memorial wins State Boys Hockey Quarterfinal

MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) The Old Abes advanced to the WIAA State Semifinals with a 6-2 win over West Salem/Bangor.

Memorial got the scoring going in the first period as Ben Zacho and Brenden Olson found the back of the net.

They added to their lead in the second period when Max Savaloja skated in and beat the Panthers goalie to make it 3-0.

In the third period Eau Claire Memorial would tally three more times, Austin Karnitz, Brenden Olson and Ben Zacho scoring the goals for the Old Abes in the period. West Salem/Bangor would get on the board as Jack Gorniak and Matt Bigley found the back of the net.

The Old Abes advance to Friday's semifinal at 6:15. Memorial is looking for their first state title since 2013 and are making their ninth straight trip to the state tournament.
