EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- People satisfied their appetites while helping a good cause Tuesday.

It was for the 9th annual Xcel Energy Chili Cook-Off that benefited United Way at Xcel headquarters in Eau Claire. A panel of local celebrity judges, including WEAU’s own Danielle Wagner, tasted nine different chili recipes.

Julie Thoney, with Xcel Energy, says there were several different categories that the teams were judged on.

"There's a shoot and holler for the hottest, there's team spirit for those who have the most fun with it, there's the judge's favorite, and the crowd favorite; so, it is a fun event and people really do enjoy it each year,” said Thoney.

The cost to attend the event was $5, 100 percent of the proceeds went to United Way.
