Elroy police chief’s son accidentally shoots himself

JUNEAU COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) -- A 3-year-old child accidentally shot himself with his father’s firearm on Monday.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice said the child’s father is Elroy Chief of Police Tony Green. The child is recovering well. He's expected to be released from the hospital on Wednesday.

The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a home in Plymouth Township just before 6:15 p.m.

The incident is being investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation at the request of Juneau County Sheriff Brent Oleson.
