EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- After a memorable runner-up season in the Northwoods League this summer, the Eau Claire Express took time Sunday to give back to the community.
The Express teamed up with the Chippewa Valley After Hours Rotary Club to help support Feed My People Food Bank. Members of the Express, staff, host families, and season ticket holders gathered on Carson Park's fan deck to assemble and package six thousand meals.
All part of the 'Kids Against Hunger' program, a mission to help reduce the number of hungry children in the Chippewa Valley and around the U.S.
Mike Phillips from Chippewa Valley After Hours Rotary explains,
"Kids will go home from school with something to take home, those who are hungry, facing homeless issues or hunger issues. We can help provide meals to those families, kids that otherwise wouldn't have anything to eat."
All together on Sunday, more than 58-hundred meals were prepared and packaged for kids in the Chippewa Valley.
