ELK MOUND, Wis. (WEAU) -- Area elementary and middle school students explored farm life Wednesday.

Elk Mound FFA members hosted an Animals on the Lawn event where members brought in animals such as sheep, calves and horses to show younger students how the animals are taken care of. The students also learned about tractors and other implements.

One FFA member says the event helps younger students become more knowledgeable about agriculture.

"A lot of them are just surprised and amazed by how fun it is. A lot of people who live in town and stuff they don’t' know about animals and they don't know what goes on, and some of them don't even know some of the animals," said Ryan Mayes, Junior.

The Elk Mound FFA holds the Animals on the Lawn event every year.
