CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- Two former City of Cornell employees are facing charges after an investigation into stolen property.

According to court documents 35-year-old Brandon Larson of Holcombe and 56-year-old John Westaby of Cornell were charged Monday in Chippewa County.

Cornell's city administrator spoke with the sheriff's department September 26, saying city-owned property may have been stolen by two city employees.

Deputies started investigating, they interviewed Westaby, and say he admitted to stealing the property.

Property owned by the city was also recovered.

In October, Cornell's city administrator said both Westaby and Larson were fired.

Westaby worked for the city since the 1990s and was Larson's supervisor.
