HIXTON, Wis. (WEAU) -- A Hixton woman is accused of attacking and abusing her 65-year-old mother.

Investigators say Beverly Huckstep, 46, was charged in Jackson County Court Tuesday with several counts, including aggravated battery of an elderly person.

According to Huckstep’s mother, Huckstep slapped her mother, grabbed her throat and beat her up last week. The victim told investigators that she was hit so hard that her hearing aid fell out and her glasses were knocked off her face. The criminal complaint says the victim tried to get away by running to the neighbor’s house, but Huckstep followed her and continued to try and attack her. The neighbor reportedly intervened and told Huckstep to leave.

Police say Huckstep tried to resist arrest, but was eventually taken into custody.
