Homicide suspect arrested near Holmen

LA CROSSE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- Two people are taken to jail, including a homicide suspect, after being spotted in western Wisconsin.

According to the La Crosse County Sheriff's Office, 24-year-old Harley Est of Merrilan was wanted on a felony warrant for homicide out of Jackson County for a heroin-related death in 2015.

The sheriff's office and the La Crosse Police Department received information this weekend Est was with 32-year-old Zachary Wittenberg of La Crosse.

Just after 1:30 Sunday afternoon, an officer with the Galesville Police Department saw the suspects in Trempealeau County and stopped them on Highway 53 in Holmen with help from the La Crosse County Sheriff's Office.

Est was arrested and taken to the jail in Jackson County.

Wittenberg was taken to jail in Trempealeau County.

Law enforcement officers said he could be charged with harboring/aiding a felon and probation hold.
