EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The snowy conditions throughout the day meant slick roads and longer travel times for drivers.
The highways and main roads are a lot more clear than earlier in the day, but many side roads are still snow covered.
While the highways are getting clear, there is quite a bit of blowing snow. You'll want to watch out for slick spots and some snow drifts if you're traveling overnight or in the morning.
WEAU 13 News spoke with people who were out on the roads Tuesday night, including a gentleman who commutes to the Twin Cities for work every day and people who traveled to Hobbs Ice Center for the hockey game between Eau Claire North and River Falls.
"The interstate wasn't too bad, but once you got off the interstate it started to get pretty slick. Did it take you any longer to get back than usual? Almost twice as long," said Wade Dehnke of Eau Claire.
"Take the necessary precautions. Afford a little extra time and be careful," said Mark Gilbertson of Altoona.
"The roads are slick in certain spots, but I think the highway department's doing a good job salting down the roads," said Dean Grundstrom of River Falls.
Alternate side parking in Eau Claire goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and ends Friday at 5 p.m.
