Local police department to handout K9 trading cards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- You might remember getting baseball cards from a police officer as a child, and now local law enforcement will be connecting with the community by doing something similar.

The Eau Claire Police Department will be handing out trading cards with their K9 officers - Duke and Jake.

The K9 cards were donated by commercial photographer Travis Dewitz. He donated 20,000 K9 trading cards to area law enforcement.

"It's a great community outreach piece for us to educate our community members, especially kids on the K9 program to kind of give some details and facts about them but also some fun stuff," said Officer Bridget Coit.

Officers say they will hand the cards out to mostly children.

Altoona also received the trading cards for K9 Max.
