Local school finds fun way to join in on Olympic fun

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A local elementary school found a fun way to join in on the Winter Olympic celebrations.

Meadowview Elementary classrooms have been engaging in special activities all week including 'ice skating' in the hallway, tower building with cups, and tissue box 'curling'.

To finish the week, they held an all school Winter Olympic event Friday for all grade levels to compete against each other.

The competitions included bobsled, biathlon, ski jumping and hockey.

"Before we came out here we had a big Olympic message, did some videos from the Olympics that talked about teamwork and that we're all standing behind our Olympians,” said Curt Madsen, Meadowview principal.

If you're looking to watch an Eau Claire native during this year's Winter Olympics you can catch Ben Loomis in the Nordic combined starting February 14 on WEAU.
