Male drowns in Red Cedar River

DUNN COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU)- An adult male was found unconscious and not breathing near the boat landing in the Red Cedar River.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office says around 4:02 p.m. Monday, July 25, they received a report of a male who had possibly drowned in the Red Cedar River.

It happened at the Downsville Boat Landing in the Town of Dunn.

The Sheriff’s Department says the victim had gone into the river at the landing with a tube to try and assist a group of tubers that had gone by the take out point at the landing.

When found, CPR was started by people who had gotten out of the river at the landing at the end of their tubing trip.

The male was transported to Mayo-Eau Claire Hospital by Mayo One Helicopter and pronounced dead.

The name is not being released awaiting family notification.

Dunn Counties Deputies, Menomonie Ambulance and Mayo One Helicopter assisted at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
