EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- A man charged with OWI after a crash on Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire is sentenced.

Leo Owen,59, pleaded guilty recently to a count of 9th OWI and felony bail jumping. A third count of 10th offense operating with a prohibited blood alcohol content was dismissed. Owen was ordered to serve three years in prison and five years of extended supervision.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says Owen was driving near the intersection of Clairemont Avenue and Otter Road in May when he crashed into a guard rail in Eau Claire.

The criminal complaint says a trooper smelled intoxicants and saw a bottle of vodka sitting between the front seats of Owen’s vehicle. The State Patrol says multiple driving complaints were called in on Owen’s vehicle prior to the crash.
