LEON TOWNSHIP, Wis. (WEAU) -- One man is in the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries following an incident in Monroe County on Sunday.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a call came in at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday about a man who had fallen out of a moving truck on Jancing Avenue in Leon Township.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, an 18-year-old man was driving the truck with three passengers, but only one inside of the vehicle. The two other passengers – 18-year-old Austin Zwiefel and a juvenile man, both of Sparta – were standing in the bed of the truck.

Police said the truck left the road and entered the ditch, only to re-enter the road and eject Zwiefel from the bed of the truck. He suffered possible life-threatening head injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
