March going out like a lion as snow returns to Wisconsin

By  |

The calendar says spring, but some areas are waking up to a coating of fresh snow!

This system that moved through last night has brought the return of winter weather for many this morning. This low pressure system will continue to exit to the east over the next few hours. There may be some slippery spots on roads, where accumulation has occurred. Here are some area snow totals from last night and today:

Ladysmith, WI 8.1"
Bruce, WI 8.0"
Dresser, WI 8.0"
Chetek, WI 7.0"
Lublin, WI 7.0"
Bloomer, WI 6.0"
Jim Falls, WI 4.7"
Roberts, WI 2.5"
Eau Claire, WI 2.0"
River Falls, WI 1.5"
Ellsworth, WI 1.0"

Use caution if traveling today. If you plan on driving, it's best to wait until later today, if not Sunday. Winds will continue to pick up across Western Wisconsin today from the northwest.

The sky will begin to clear some later this evening and tonight as temperatures drop into the single digits for many locations to the north. We can expect quiet weather for Easter Sunday but more winter weather could return for the start of the work week. It looks like the first few days of April will be feeling more winter-like, at least here in our area.
