MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU)-- Menomonie Middle School students and staff took time out of their day Friday to honor our nation's veterans.

David Leonard Dolan, recipient of the silver star in Vietnam on November 17, 1966 served as the guest speaker for the school's Veterans Day program.

"In serving my country, I received many opportunities, both big and small that I almost certainly would never have gotten. Military service helped me realize my capabilities and it forced me to go beyond the limits that i thought i had," Dolan told the students.

Dolan is the father of staff member, Timothy Dolan, of the Menomonie Middle School English department. The program included Veterans Day readings and music from the Menomonie music department.
