EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Construction is underway for a re-development project on the UW-Eau Claire campus.

Crews are replacing aging utilities along the Garfield Avenue corridor. The $12.4 million project also includes enhancements to improve visibility and use of the riverfront area on campus.

The university says during the spring semester, the construction area will extend from the base of the campus hill on the west to just before the campus footbridge. Construction will impact the way students, staff and visitors navigate campus.

The university says it expects the Garfield avenue project to be completed by fall of 2018.
