RICE LAKE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Superheroes, sci-fi and costumes galore are about to hit Rice Lake. The city is gearing up for its first comic con.

It's happening this Saturday and Sunday at The Cedar Mall.

Admission is free.

Organizers Gregg Morgan and Jennifer Bramer joined Hello Wisconsin to share a preview of what's ahead.

"The idea of a comic showcase is appealing to young and old who grew up with Marvel or DC comic characters such as Batman, Superman or others," Morgan explained. "Recently that genre has been reinvigorated as movies and video games based on the vintage characters have become a HUGE part of popular culture."

Adding to the appeal of Comic Cons, he says, are role playing, costumes, contests, photo ops, gaming and just simply the fun of hanging with fun loving people of a similar mind set.

The Cedar Comic Con runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
