EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- For the second straight year, WEAU 13 News is partnering with the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation to honor one educator from all 20 public schools in the district with a Golden Apple Award.

In our final stop, we check out a kindergarten class at Roosevelt Elementary.

Roosevelt Elementary Principal Ben Dallman presented kindergarten teacher Stacy Wisse with the Golden Apple Award this week. Wisse has been teaching for the past 15 years, including the last nine at Roosevelt. She says it's a thrill coming to school every day and spending time with her five year-olds.

"While they're at school that they are developing positive relationships with one another and that they're having fun, get to play and they learn through their play and that's what I love most about kindergarten. Seeing that huge growth from when they come in to when they leave and that makes me very proud are happy to teach this grade level,” said Wisse.

"Just that kindness and respect she models and teaches throughout is really great and just the kids, it's a very calm atmosphere in her classroom, the routines are, they know exactly what to do,” said Dallman.

Wisse and Roosevelt Elementary will receive a $1,000 grant from the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation. Wisse will get to use $500 to use in her classroom.
