TREMPEALEAU COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- A search warrant conducted in Trempealeau County leads to the findings of thousands of stolen items from cemeteries and people's lawns.

The sheriff's office said on September 29 deputies responded to a theft in Arcadia. That victim was able to identify the suspect, who lives in Independence.

The following day, the Independence Police Department went into the home and found the items.

Officers say it appears the majority of items were stolen from the past three years.

They say the suspect admitted to stealing items from Trempealeau, Buffalo, Jackson, and Pepin counties.

The suspect in this case is not being identified at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
