Settlement offer extended to ousted superintendent

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Altoona School Board is continuing to work through parting ways with Dr. Connie Biedron as Superintendent.

Altoona School board president Robin Elvig (right) talks to those in attendance during Monday night's board meeting. She is announcing that James Oliver (left) will will stay on as a dean of students and will be working more closely with school administration, but would not confirm to WEAU 13 News if Oliver is staying on as the high school’s athletic director. Superintendent Connie Biedron (center) listens to the announcement.

School Board President Robin Elvig told WEAU a settlement offer was made to Biedron, the terms of which are confidential.

The Altoona School Board removed Biedron as superintendent back in December.

"We feel that it is important to let our community know that we are making every effort to resolve this matter with finality so that their interest in the District's direction and its future leadership can be addressed," said Elvig.

Elvig also said this will be the board's final initiative to resolve this matter voluntarily/by agreement. If the proposal is not accepted, Elvig said the board will have to explore other means of resolving this matter.

Elvig said Dr. Biedron did file a grievance. The grievance is following the standard process, and is going to an independent hearing officer.
