CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU)- A local state park is offering free admission and rentals Sunday as a part of their annual open house

Since the '90's, the Lake Wissota State Park has hosted this annual event to encourage folks to visit and explore. Free kayaking and canoe rentals will be available, as well as cookie and t-shirt decorating. Park officials say last year, more than 200 people attended.

"I think its a great opportunity for people who don't normally get to go to the parks or think its something they might want to do because of cost. This way they get to try things out see what they think and maybe they'll come back," Savanna Harmon said.

Saturday's event runs from 1- to 4- at Lake Wissota State Park.
