Sunday morning Fire displaces 7 residents of Eau Claire 4-plex

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Seven residents of a 4-plex in Eau Claire are displaced after a fire Sunday morning.

The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a fire at 4547 Hartzell Lane in Eau Claire around 4:45 a.m. Sunday. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the windows, doors, and eves of the front of the building. Fire damage was contained to one living unit, but there was smoke and water damage to all 4 units.

The American Red Cross is working with the displaced residents.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury to his knee.

Damage is estimated at $135,000. The fire remains under investigation.
