EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A local event combined football and food to raise awareness about diabetes.

Marshfield Clinic organized Touchdown with Diabetes Saturday in Eau Claire.

The event aimed to raise awareness and to provide information to help manage and prevent diabetes.

The football-themed event featured former Top Chef contestant Tiffany Derry.

Chef Derry prepared two, diabetic-friendly recipes for people to enjoy and make at home.

She said many people with diabetes feel like they don't have a lot of choices as far as diet and get bored eating the same foods over and over.

"By showing them that there are options and it doesn't have to be boring and it can taste delicious, they walk away feeling I have recipes now. Now I know where to get the information, and I'm going to keep going."

The event was free to attend.
