It happened Sunday afternoon on the shores of Lake Wissota State Park.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, an adult female and a 17-year-old female were canoeing on Lake Wissota when the canoe capsized due to strong winds and wave activity on the lake.

Deputies said one canoeist was able to swim to shore.

The other was rescued by personnel who threw a rope to her. They were able to successfully pull the canoeists and the canoe to shore.

Both people reported no injuries or need for medical attention.
