The Express went 3-1 in the four games away from Carson Park. Eau Claire improves to 9-3 in the second half and 26-20 overall. Waterloo falls to 6-6 and 21-25 overall. Eau Claire spilt every series with the Bucks this season.

Eau Claire got things started right away in the top of the first. Bryce Nimmo (Nebraska) led off with a walk and then went to second on a sacrifice. After Kole Calhoun (Yavapai) walked, the Express put on a double steal to put runners at second and third with one out. Nimmo then scored on a Scott Shaw wild pitch to give the Express a 1-0 lead. Justin Uribe (UCLA) then stepped to the plate and ripped a single to center field, scoring Calhoun to make the score 2-0.

The Express added to the lead in the third inning. With two outs, Calhoun walked. Uribe then singled to put runners at the corners. Another wild pitch would plate Calhoun to give the Express a 3-0 lead.

Waterloo threatened in the bottom of fifth as they put runners at the corners with one out. However, Express starter Eddie Gamboa (UC-Davis) would get back-to-back line outs, the second of which coming right back to him to get out of the jam.

Eau Claire added insurance in the top of the sixth when with two outs Jonathan Merritt (Alabama-Birmingham) doubled off the left center field wall, plating Pat Colwell (San Diego State) to make the score 4-0. The Bucks cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth when Brent Milleville doubled to score Jeff Whitlow and Chris Clark to make the score 4-2.

The Bucks then stranded runners at second and third in the seventh and a runner at third in the eighth. Calhoun then came in to close the game in the ninth and even though he walked one batter, he struck out the side to pick up his 11th save as the Express defeated Waterloo 4-2.

Gamboa (3-1) earns the win for Eau Claire going six innings and scattering seven hits. Shaw (3-3) picks up the loss for Waterloo. Uribe, Bryan Frew (Nebraska-Omaha), and Jacob Jefferies (UC-Davis) each had two hits to lead the Express offensively.

The Express return home for a six-game home stand tomorrow. Eau Claire will face Battle Creek tomorrow at Carson Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. There will be fireworks following the game.
