Motivating Your Student to Learn in the Second Half of the School Year.....
Sylvan Learning Center
A motivated student is one who is NOT overwhelmed by his/her schedule and workload. In today's busy world children are subject to many demands of their time, which causes stress and a facade of being unmotivated. You can help your student take control of their schedule demands to feel more confident and motivated, by following these Sylvan tips:

1) Get familiar with the classroom expectations of your student's teacher(s). Clearly and lovingly communicate those expectations as well as your parental expectations to your child.
2) Consider the above expectations, along with your student's expectations of him/herself, and work together to agree upon realistic academic goals.
3) Each week, determine a homework/study schedule in conjunction with the family's calendar of events, that includes sufficient "free time" which is also very important. Don't forget to include extra study time beyond simply for homework that is due.
4) Help your student develop a working daily planner and monitor it's usage to ensure it's effectiveness as an organizer.
