UW-Stout is prepared to assist students who plan to vote in the Tuesday, Feb. 21, primary election. The state’s new voter identification law requires a photo ID and proof of enrollment.

The university is offering students a voter ID card, good for two years, at no charge. Students can get the card at the Campus Card Office in room 110 of Merle M. Price Commons.

Students who do not have a valid Wisconsin ID, such as a driver’s license, would need the card. The card will include their name, signature, photo, two-year expiration date and university logo.

The card office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., during polling hours, on Election Day.

To show proof of enrollment and residency, students can log in to their secure online UW-Stout account to print an Enrollment Verification Document, which includes their local address. About half of UW-Stout’s more than 9,300 students live out of state.

University officials will notify all students this week about the process.
