Monday night, about a hundred people packed into Mike's Smokehouse in hopes of seeing Senator Hillary Clinton in person.
The same people that rushed for a spot, quickly rushed out of the restaurant when a spokesperson announced the presidential candidate wasn't going to make it.
"I'm really disappointed that I wasn’t able to see Hillary today because I’m sure she would've done anything to get here.”
"I'm disappointed. It's always sad you can't see a future leader of our country."
"I'm disappointed I didn't get to see her. I really rushed to make it."
Lori Scott is the Eau Claire County chair of Hillary Clinton’s campaign. She says it's disappointing for everyone who hoped to see the presidential hopeful.
"She called me directly on the phone and really relayed her heartfelt disappointment,” Scott says. “She was really honest and sincere in her disappointment not to be able to land."
Earlier Monday, Senator Clinton made stops De Pere and Wausau before having to skip Eau Claire.
"She tried to get to Eau Claire a number of times this week. It was just devastating to her not to be able to meet the people," Scott says.
People who have their minds made up…
"We had front row seats ready to cheer for her!"
…and others who were hoping for a chance to hear the Senator speak before casting their votes.
"I haven't made my mind up yet.”
There were a couple joking shouts of "Obama" as the crowd poured out of the restaurant, but, for the most part, everyone we talked to said they were just sad they weren't able to see the Senator.
Scott says she hopes everyone understands that Senator Clinton really did want to stop in Eau Claire and there's a strong showing at the polls Tuesday.
Clinton's state campaign tells NewsCenter 13 the visit was canceled due to bad road conditions.
The last-minute announcement that she was even planning a trip came at 4:45 p.m. this afternoon. Shortly before 5 p.m. NewsCenter 13 learned from her Wisconsin campaign office that the trip had been cancelled due to road conditions.
The Eau Claire County Democrats, however, were not informed of the cancellation until around 5:30 p.m.
Over the weekend, Clinton's campaign cancelled the first planned visit to Eau Claire, which was originally set for Memorial High School this afternoon.
