Predictions of turnout were shattered Tuesday despite sub-zero wind chills and single-digit temperatures.

Eau Claire City Clerk Donna Austad told TV-13 News that this February 19th Primary brought out 43% of all registered voters in the city, the highest since 1988, when 51% of the electorate voted.

In Eau Claire, the lowest primary turnout was in 1996 with 26% of all registered voters casting ballots. 2004 saw a 27% turnout.

Statewide about 35% of all voters went to the polls, the highest since 1988 when 39% voted. In all, one-million, 500-thousand Wisconsinites voted.
