A new poll shows a majority of Wisconsin residents are pessimistic about the state and national economy.

The University of Wisconsin Survey Center's Badger Poll released Tuesday shows that 66% of those surveyed feel like the state is in bad economic times.

Fifty-five percent believe the U.S. economy will get worse over the next 12 months.

The survey comes a day after General Motors announced it would be cutting 756 jobs at its Janesville plant.

The random survey of 521 people was conducted between April 15 and Thursday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
