La Crosse and Manitowoc voters have elected two of the state's youngest mayors.

Twenty-two-year-old Justin Nickels was elected mayor of Manitowoc by a 15-vote margin. Nickels edged 39-year-old Dave Soeldner in Tuesday's election. He'll replace Kevin Crawford, who has served for 21 years.

The Board of Canvass is scheduled to meet Wednesday to verify the vote count among the roughly 9,400 ballots cast.

In La Crosse, 24-year-old Matt Harter garnered nearly 55 percent of the vote to become the city's youngest mayor. Harter beat Dorothy Lenard by campaigning on promises of property tax reductions and open door government.
