CHIPPEWA FALLS. Wis (WEAU) - A major intersection in downtown Chippewa Falls is now open to traffic.
The roundabout at the intersection of River Street and Highway 124 welcomed its first cars Tuesday morning. Construction on the $1.12 million project started in early July and is part of a plan to redesign the corridor to the city.
Work isn't completely finished just yet, city leaders say that they plan to make the finishing touches on the intersection in the coming months. Mayor Greg Hoffman told us “after we get the design for downtown entryway, then at that time we will complete the intersection with a fountain or a statue.”
Mayor Hoffman says he estimates the project is about 80% done, and that construction will be done by October 15th.
