"Safe Havens" for Scared Parents

By  |

Luther Middlefort, Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's Hospital all offer "Safe Haven" programs, which allow frightened young parents a place to drop off unwanted newborns, no questions asked.

The programs work in conjunction with a 2001 state law that allows parents to give babies to any hospital staff within three days of their birth without any questions or charges.

Luther Middlefort Nurse Vicky Vogler wants frightened young mothers to know about the program and encourages any scared woman to bring her baby to the hospital where they can find it a safe home.
