Thieves hit a power sports business three times in two weeks and get away with around $1000 worth items from a youth concession stand.

The break-ins happened in the Village of Lake Hallie and right now police say there are no suspects. But, after thieves got away with four ATVs and a motorcycle worth $15,000 to $20,000 in three break-ins, the co-owner of Zacho Sports Center says he's had enough.

A security team was on site at Zacho Thursday afternoon; an approximately $20,000 cost the co-owner says recently became very necessary.

"When you get targeted three different times, then it becomes a little more personal. As an owner it's troubling, but even employees are troubled by 'are we safe here?' People who work at night occasionally at the dealership don't want to come in,” says Mike Emberson.

Emberson says in the 15 years since Zacho opened, they've had a half dozen or so break-ins, but certainly not at the rate of one a week.

"I think you have people that are just not good people and they make decisions that they want something but they can't afford it and they still want it," Emberson says.

On Friday, August 27, the police responded to another call of a break-in, this time at the Chippewa Falls Youth Football office and concession stand. Police reports show the thieves got away with hundreds of dollars worth of goods including a $400 TV, $150 in donations, and around $350 worth of candy.

"The biggest key is if people go by some place and they see something taking place that looks odd or different, especially in your neighborhood to pick up the phone and give us a call," says Lake Hallie Police Chief Cal Smokowicz. “I would much rather have the officers go to a location and find nothing wrong than to have to go there the next day and find out that something did happen and now we're supposed to track down a needle in a haystack."

Chief Smokowicz says five break-ins in three weeks has his officers busy and leaves a business owner hoping he doesn't have to call them again anytime soon.

"It's hard to tell if it's over to be honest," Emberson says. "You think you're done after one, and then you think you're done after two, and then is the third time the last time? I sure hope so.”

The chief says the fifth break-in happened at Bit Tech on County OO on Tuesday, Aug. 31. That's when he says thieves tried to steal a truck that had the keys in it. But, when they smashed through a security fence, the truck got stuck and they left it there.

If you have any information on these break-ins, call the Lake Hallie Police Department at (715) 726-2666.

FULL DESCRIPTION OF BREAK-INS AT ZACHO FROM LAKE HALLIE POLICE DEPT:

On Monday, August 16, 2010, the Lake Hallie Police Department was contacted regarding a burglary to the Zacho Sports Center at 2449 S. Prairie View Rd. in the Village of Lake Hallie. It was reported that sometime over the weekend a rear fence had been cut. The security fence that had been cut is located in the very northeast corner, which is adjacent to the Farm & Fleet south parking lot. By cutting this fence, thieves gained access to Zacho Sports and stole two ATV’s. The first 4 wheeled ATV is described as a 1988 Suzuki Quad Racer, yellow and blue in color. The second ATV is described as a 2009 Yamaha YXZ 450R, blue and white in color, quad racing type 4 wheeler.

On Thursday, August 26, 2010, Lake Hallie Police were dispatched to Zacho Sports Center who reported that between 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 08/24/10, and 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 08/25/10 that the business lot was entered. Stolen was a 2007 Yamaha 700 Raptor, gray, red and blue in color, 2 wheel drive sport ATV. Also stolen was a 2009 Suzuki, model LT-Z400K9 ATV, yellow in color, with a blue seat and highlights. Entry was gained into the secured area of the main lot by cutting the fence in the very south east corner of the lot. This would be a different location than the previously cut fence.

On Monday, August 30, 2010, Zacho Sports Center reported a third burglary to their business. Employees reported that they discovered their perimeter fence had been cut a third time. After the second fence cutting, Zacho Sports moved all of their products to inside storage buildings. This time, forcible entry had been made to the storage building inside the fenced in area. Once inside the building, a 2009 Yamaha FZ6R motorcycle, which would be a "Racing Style", had been stolen.

No video surveillance of the Zacho Sports Center exists. There are no suspects in this case. The information release was delayed while the Lake Hallie Police was investigating. The Village of Lake Hallie has had 22 reported burglaries in 2010 from January to August.
