Flanked by Governor Jim Doyle and Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton, Kerry was welcomed to Madison by a crowd at Alliant Center in Madison Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier, after an appearance in Detroit, Kerry spoke with Newscenter 13 during a satellite interview and expressed support for a policy that Governor Doyle has come under fire for supporting.
"I'm for importing drugs from Canada. I believe we ought to allow Medicare to bulk purchase prescription drugs to lower the cost to the American taxpayer," Kerry said.
"George Bush signed a bill prohibiting Medicare from doing that very thing."
Kerry also defended his plan for healthcare, saying the Bush Administration's attacks that it promotes bigger government are an attempt to cover up that five million people have lost their healthcare during his administration.
