Two people are now charged in connection with the murder of a couple in Juneau County last March.
On March 11th, 31-year-old Joshua Alderman of La Crosse and 23-year-old Tabatha Nealy of Wisconsin Rapids were found shot to death on a remote road in Juneau County. Friday, 32-year-old David W. Turner was charged with two counts of first degree intentional homicide.
Special Prosecutor Mike Luell from Racine County says "we have a very serious case the allegations are as serious as it gets two people were murdered.”
Luell says Turner was arrested after ignoring a meeting scheduled with investigators. "We had a meeting scheduled with him right here in this room and he fled from his attorneys office and was just walking down the road and we had to arrest him."
Thursday, police arrested 24-year-old John Tetting Jr. in connection with the murders. He's charged with two counts of second degree reckless homicide. Detectives say the facts of the case match Tetting's account.
Juneau County Sheriff Brent Oleson says "I'm pleased with where we're at today (Friday). It's a difficult case."
According to the criminal complaint, Tetting told investigators the night before the murders, he drove turner from Tomah to Babcock to meet with Alderman about a large-scale drug distribution conspiracy. When they got to Babcock, Turner flagged down Alderman and told him to follow their car. When they reached a rural road in Findley they both pulled over.
The complaint says Turner got out of the car and told Tetting to turn the car around. Both cars were facing opposite directions when Tetting heard a loud bang believed to be the one gunshot wound to Alderman's head. Tetting turned and saw Turner shoot Nealey, then as she tried to get out of the car he shot her again. The complaint says when Turner got out of the car he shot Nealey a third time.
Luell says "we feel comfortable of charging this case and seeing what happens in court.”
Tetting was in court Friday for the murders and Turner will be in court next Tuesday. Tabitha Nealy's mother says she is relieved someone is in jail for her daughter's murder.
