New Businesses

Since 1986 the Eau Claire Economic Development Corporation has been giving people a chance to start their own business, and this year the competition was more fierce than ever.

EDC decided to give special recognition to Adhesive R & D Incorporated because of their very good business plan, but in the end the grand prize went to RSTC Enterprises.

RSTC has been in business for a little more than year making satellite mounting systems that don't damage roofs.

Other awards went to B Able To Incorporated; the company makes scissors for people with cognitive disabilities.

And for the first time this year, the EDC had a youth award that went to Jacob Jermain, who started SWATbot Systems, and developed a robot with a camera for law enforcement to use.

All the winners won cash prizes and qualified for low interest loans to help further their business plan.
