The Saint Croix County Sheriff says the county is getting sued.
The family of a New Richmond man who died filed a wrongful death suit Tuesday. Brandon Lee Hessler, 28, died while in custody at the Saint Croix County Jail last March. Sheriff Dennis Hillstad says Hessler's parents are suing for $3 million. Hessler's parents want the amount for pain and suffering and violations of his civil rights. Jail staff found Hessler unresponsive in his cell, they tried to revive him, but couldn't.
Four employees were suspended with pay during the investigation.
