A 25-year-old Eau Claire man will spend time in prison for the death of an infant he was caring for.
Last February, Eric Arneson was babysitting five-month-old Kaitlyn Rouse and her two-year-old brother.
Arneson was trying to sleep when the baby started to cry. Prosecutors say he wrapped the baby tightly in a comforter, suffocating her.
The judge sentenced Gabler to 20 years in prison and five years extended supervision for the first degree reckless homicide charge.
The judge says he didn't believe Arneson was a threat to the public, or needed rehabilitation, but because of the callousness of his actions, needed to be incarcerated.
