UWEC Binge Drinking Higher Than National Average

With homecoming just days away and students gearing up for the game and the parities, a yearly study from the university reveals more UWEC students binge drink than the national average.

The study is conducted each year and while the percentages are decreasing they're still higher than the rest of the country. Roughly 57 percent of UWEC students binge drink, downing seven and a half drinks per week, versus 42 percent and five drinks nationally.

UWEC is taking measures to curb student drinking, especially this week, including articles in the student newspaper against excessive drinking and a pamphlet detailing the do's, don'ts and fines for throwing a pigskin blowout.
