Whitehall Police Officer Under Investigation Leaves Force

Daniel Wineski, 46, has agreed to leave the Whitehall police force after having been on administrative leave since his arrest in March and subsequent charging of second degree sexual assault of a child.

He was first placed on leave and then suspended in July. He faces five other felony charges including the intimindation of a victim and false imprisonment, besides the sexual assault charge.

Wineski is scheduled for trial on November 8th. He is accused of assaulting a 14-year-old girl in his squad car in 1996. He is a 25 year veteran of the department in Whitehall, which is the county seat of Trempealeau County.
