DETROIT (AP) -- The fate of a tentative labor agreement at Chrysler remains uncertain today after two large United Auto Workers locals split over the deal.

The two locals that held ratification votes today represent about 4,500 of the union's 45,000 members at Chrysler.

On Sunday, 57 percent of members of UAW Local 7 in Detroit voted against the deal.

They work at the Jefferson North plant and make the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Commander.

Workers at a parts plant in DeWitt, New York, voted 88 percent in favor of the deal.

The contract has failed in ratification votes at four other large locals in recent days.

The majority of the 800 workers at a Chrysler engine plant in Kenosha, Wisconsin, voted in favor of it Thursday.
