President Bush gets a "poor" or "fair" rating for his handling of the economy from nearly 66% of the Wisconsin residents who took part in the Badger public opinion poll. The poll of 508 adults questioned about Bush's handling of the economy shows only 37% rated it as good or excellent, while 63% said it was fair or poor.

About 41% of the respondents expect the U.S. economy to get better next year, and 33% expect Wisconsin's economy to get better in 2005.

The poll also found that 32% of those surveyed said the economy would be better now if Kerry were president, while 21% said it would worse, and 44% said the economy would be about the same.

The poll was commissioned jointly by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and the Madison Capital Times. The margin of error is plus or minus four percentage points.
