Holiday Traffic Fatality

The holiday travel season started on a sad note after an Illinois woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on I-94 near Foster.

Forty-nine-year-old Donna Curtis of Gurnee, Illinois was killed in the crash around 8:30 Wednesday morning involving her car, three semi- tractor trailers and a straight truck.

Investigators say an engine malfunction on one of the semis caused smoke to impair the vision of a following semi and the woman's car rear-ended the second semi.

It spun into the other lane of traffic where it was struck by yet another semi.

State patrol diverted westbound traffic off the highway at Exit 88 for almost three hours this morning.
