Thanksgiving Travel on Wisconsin Roadways

State patrol says Wednesday fatal crash near Foster is a reminder to everyone traveling on the roads this holiday weekend to be alert and drive carefully.

AAA is estimating that 30 million people will be driving to their Thanksgiving meal.

The busiest traffic occurs between traffic occurs between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday.

State patrol requests that motorists plan for extra travel time and be aware of and courteous to other drivers.

"We will have all available staff out patrolling the highways," says Lt. Jeff Lorentz. "We will be doing special emphasis as always on safety belt restraints, speeds, DWI enforcement. We will be taking the appropriate enforcement actions throughout the holiday."

Lorentz says this year's overall traffic fatalities are down more than 80, when 769 people were killed by this time last year.
