Funerals For Slain Deer Hunters

Funerals for six deer hunters killed in a shooting began Thursday night in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and will conclude Monday.

Authorities say gunfire erupted on private hunting private after 36-year-old Chai Vang of St. Paul was told to leave a tree stand. Vang claims he was taunted with racial slurs and that one of the hunters fired a shot at him. Six were killed and two wounded. He is being held in jail at Hayward, Wisconsin on a $2,500,000 bail.

In Haugen, Wisconsin the reverend David Oberts says he faces a big challenge of trying to make sense of the deaths. Five of those six killed attended the priest's churches in Haugen. Oberts says he'll give a message of hope and resurrection to families and friends.
