School leaders at UW-La Crosse are hoping for enough money to build a new facility.
The university wants to build a $44 million dollar academic center on campus. This would replace three existing buildings. Plans call for a multi-floored facility with seventy new classrooms.
The new academic building would be the first new building on the UW-L campus in 34 years.
University leaders are asking for $38 million dollars from the state. The remaining $6 million would come from private donations.
If the university gets the money, construction should begin in 2009.
