An employee of the state's largest nursing home will cooperate with investigators who are looking into accusations of embezzling donations.

That's the word from Erik Ellingson. He's the lawyer for Rich Calcut, the longtime public information officer at the Wisconsin Veterans Home and volunteer coordinator.

The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, which runs the home, placed Calcut on paid leave last month after an internal review found discrepancies in a fund he managed

Court records show Wisconsin Department of Justice investigators raided Calcut's office on Monday and seized his work computer. No charges have been filed but investigators said in court documents they suspect Calcut of embezzlement and misconduct in public office.

Cathy Leaverton, former activity services director at the home, said she first complained to superiors three years ago that an employee was mismanaging donations. But she says they did nothing to stop him.
